Let’s be honest. A lot of people seek out a chiropractor when they are in acute pain – they may injure their necks, tweak something or have some lower back problems. That’s fine, of course. This is why follow up and maintenance sessions are so important for you to be performing at your optimal.
Chiropractic care generally consists of three different stages –
Relief Care - that first appointment where we assess the problem and do what we can to get you out of acute pain. This may involve some gentle manipulations, acupuncture or gentle massage of the affected area.
Corrective Care – we then work together and put a plan of care together for you of how many treatments you are going to need over the coming weeks to get you fit again.
Maintenance Care – this is possibly the most important stage to get to. Once we have assessed the initial problem and got you out of pain, it is important to come back and see your chiropractor every 6-8 weeks to keep any problems which may arise at bay.
Often the route of problems with the spine stem back to posture. In Western society, we famously have terrible posture – slouched over a desk for 7-8 hours a day, long drives, using our phones for far too long.. the list is endless! But if you ensure you keep up with your maintenance sessions, these problems can be addressed before pain sets in! We keep on top of muscle memory which starts to build up when posture remains bad over a long period of time.
